6 years ago I went to Portland OR with Maria Bermudez ‘La Cha Cha’ to perform and give workshops at a festival. It was here that I met Mark Ferguson, Mitsue ‘La Pura’, Dick Winegar and Estefanía, at the time I would never have thought that we would all meet again in Boise Idaho for a weekend festival, organized by a Flamenco school Directed and instructed me!~Luis de La Tota

Hace 6 años me fui a Portland OR con Maria Bermudez ‘La Cha Cha’ de realizar y dar talleres en un festival. Fue allí donde conocí a Marcos Ferguson, Mitsue ‘La Pura’, Dick Winegar y Estefanía. En ese momento yo nunca hubiera pensado que íbamos a reunirnos todos de nuevo en Boise, Idaho, para un festival de fin de semana, organizado por una escuela de Flamenco ,Director y encargó por mí mismo Luis de la Tota!

When I speak of Flamenco life, how it bewitches how it creates life-long friendships and new branches of family, I cannot stop thinking of the mystery of why it is this way, because Flamenco also has it’s very dark sides.

Cuando hablo de la vida Flamenco, la forma en que embruja- cómo crea amistades para toda la vida y las nuevas ramas de la familia, no puedo dejar de pensar en el misterio de por qué es así, porque el flamenco también tiene su lado muy oscuro

Maria brings magic where ever she goes and it was a pleasure for us at Escuela de Ritmo to see her spreading this positive energy and ‘gracia’ throughout  the workshops and on stage with us.

Maria trae magia donde quiera que vaya y que fue un placer para nosotros en la Escuela de Ritmo verla difundir esta energía positiva y ‘gracia’ a través de los talleres y en el escenario con nosotros.

Mitsue and Mark Ferguson shared with us their arte the element of family and I saw them revolutionize some of the pieces that we have all been performing together for a while, as a Maestro, guide, and fellow performer, it is wonderful to see this.

Mitsue y Mark Ferguson compartieron con nosotros su arte el elemento de la familia y los vi revolucionar algunas de las piezas que todos hemos estado haciendo juntos por un tiempo, como un maestro, guía y compañero de artista, es maravilloso ver esto.

Dick Winegar, ‘Uncle Dick’ has always been a friend to all of us, and we love that he comes to share his companionship and art.

Dick Winegar,’Uncle Dick’  siempre ha sido un amigo para todos nosotros, y nos encanta que venga a compartir su compañerismo y el arte.

Our event is small but it has a big heart that keeps on beating and we shall be sure to see our Festival grow not only with attendance of Flamencos from around the world but grow with memories and the magic that our friends and family bring.

Nuestro evento es pequeña, pero tiene un gran corazón que no para de latir a ritmo y que estará seguro de ver nuestro Festival crecer no sólo con la asistencia de los flamencos de todo el mundo, pero crecen con los recuerdos y la magia que nuestros amigos y familiares traen.

All these things would not be possible with out the family members that support us–the performances and workshops would not have been made possible with out the cooperation of our loved ones.
